Native to eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. It is popularly known as "Michaelmas daisy" and thrives on coastal and near coastal habitats plus inland riverbanks, fens, marsh edges and boggy shores. Who would not delight in the lavender-blue shade of its flowers.
