In 1922, Josef Albers was invited to join the faculty of the Bauhaus. Teaching the preliminary course in the Department of Design, he challenged students to utilize “economy of form.” One of the exercises he created, was the cutting of a flat sheet and making it into a three dimensional object. This exercise was the inspiration for these earrings.ERS8895
