The Glacier Lily (Erythronium grandiflorum) is native to western North America. There it grows in subalpine mountain meadows, creating, in the spring, fields of vibrant yellow on slopes and meadows. Glacier lily roots are harvested and eaten by bears and rodents. Native Americans occasionally also used them for food.
