A wrought iron grill with a stylized acanthus leaf was the inspiration for these earrings. This grill was made for a neo-classical building in the 1930’s, but this ornamental motif has a long history. It was first used by the Greeks in the 5th century BC on temple roof ornaments, in wall friezes and on the capital of the Corinthian column.
