Japanese Sword & Sheath Metal Bookmark

$18.50

This Japanese daito, or long sword, was made during the 16th century in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The sheath for the sword was made of red lacquer which had a spiral of thin gold applied.

The diato would have been worn with a short sword or wakizashi between the layers of a belt or obi. Together these two swords would be called a daisho.
