The Golden Gate Bridge connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County. It spans the entrance of the San Francisco Bay which John C. Fremont dubbed in 1846 the name of “Chrysopylae” or Golden Gate.
