In many cultures, there is a myth that cats have multiple lives. Some believe that cats have nine lives. In Italy, Germany, Greece, and some Spanish- speaking regions, they are said to have seven. In Turkish and Arabic traditions, it is six. This myth probably originated in the fact that cats have an instinctive righting reflex which usually lands them on their feet.
