Fra Angelico was an Italian painter and devout Friar of the early Renaissance. Though he began his career as a Friar by focusing on the messages in religious books, he soon moved to painting. He specialized in paintings of religious subjects including angels and started painting altars and other structures in churches. In 1433, he painted the Linaioli Triptych with a Madonna and Child surrounded by a band of 12 angels playing different musical instruments. The “Angel with a trumpet” inspired this bookmark.
