Bourdichon Medieval Illustration Metal Bookmark

To be a successful artist in the medieval era, it was essential to have the support of royalty. Jean Bourdichon acted as the official court painter for four consecutive French kings. Charles VIII established a workshop for him at his castle in Plessis-lès-Tours and provided significant dowries for Bourdichon's daughters. Bourdichon truly made art work for him.
