A United States Founding Father and Revolutionary War supporter, Alexander Hamilton was a political philosopher, author, and economist. He was the founder of the Federalist Party, the world's first voter-based party, and one of the authors of the Federalist Papers.
As the first Secretary of the Treasury, Hamilton had a prominent role in the country's financial systems and he created the federal banking system and the United States Mint. Recognizing the use of hydropower, he founded Paterson, New Jersey, the nation's first planned industrial city.
