Blue phlox is one of the loveliest spring flowers. In its wild state, it is extremely variable, with the color ranging from pinkish to pale violet, and the corolla-lobes entirely or deeply notched. Blue phlox was one of the earliest American plants to be cultivated in Europe and is illustrated in Miller's Figures of Plants. 1758.
The image and text for this earring was inspired by the Mary Vaux Walcott’s North American Wild Flowers, published by The Smithsonian Institution in 1925.
