Little Dancer Metal Bookmark French Impressionist Edgar Degas created his Little Dancer, Aged Fourteen in 1881. The statue caused quite an unfavorable commotion when it was exhibited because it was considered too life-like. This realism inspired countless sculptors and his influence shaped artistic ideals well into the 20th Century.
