Matisse & The Fauves, Pink Earrings

Matisse's use of vibrant colors in his works between 1900 and 1905 marked him as one of the Fauves, a group that prioritized painterly qualities and strong color over realistic values. When his health prevented him from painting, he turned to creating cut paper collages. His Fauve colors inspired this earring.
