In the building boom that followed the Chicago fire, Louis Sullivan, invented a new building type: the skyscraper. One of his masterpieces, the Chicago Stock Exchange, was decorated with a combination of geometric shapes and naturalistic plantlike forms. This earring is inspired by a balustrade in this building.
